About Kailani

Born in Hawai’i and raised across the world, Kailani has seen life through several lenses.

Though she was cultivating her passion for music along the way, she initially aimed for a career in astrophysics. But Kailani reassessed when Covid hit in 2020, the fall she was supposed to begin college.

After working for a year, introducing herself to Logic Pro X, and filming a few self tapes, she was accepted to school in New York City, where she studied drama and film music composition. Averaging around 20 credits a semester to be the first to complete a double major across the two fine arts degrees at NYU, she graduated fall of 2025.

Throughout college she aimed to build a repertoire of music that crossed the boundaries of her studies— something meant for a director to edit to, and for a fan to play on repeat. Her solution, a cinematic fusion of aesthetics, what she calls cinema pop.
